SAME Sits Down With STEM/Engineering Camps COI Chairs Cindy Miller and Allison Cantu

SAME recently sat down with Cindy Miller P.E., LEED AP, F.SAME, who is the Deputy Chair of the Camps Community of Interest (COI) and Allison Cantu P.E., F.SAME who is the Chair of the Camps COI.

Together, Miller and Cantu have helped to make the SAME Camps Program a world-class educational summer event for talented young students interested in considering careers in STEM focused fields. The camps have been bringing together students and experienced mentors from across the country and around the world for over 20 years. The SAME Camps Program is an exceptional opportunity for students to hone their individual and group problem solving skills through hands-on projects and experiences guided by industry professionals and passionate leaders like Miller and Cantu.

SAME took the opportunity to discuss this unique program with Miller and Cantu as they share their thoughts on the passion of the camps volunteers, excitement on the new Navy Camp in Jacksonville, FL., and the bright future of the camps program as they work together with the SAME Foundation to prepare STEM professionals for the future.

Every summer, a huge team effort makes the Engineering & Construction Camps a resounding success. The SAME Foundation provides critical support for our Camps Mentor program while the SAME Camps COI are instrumental in organizing and managing all of the behind-the-scenes details that keep the camps running smoothly.
