2025 Justin Noyes High School Scholarship Announcement:

The Tulsa Post of the SAME is pleased to announce Applications are now available for four $2,000 Justin Noyes Scholarships to senior high school students who intend to earn a degree in engineering, biological science or physical science.

These annual scholarships are in honor of Marine Sergeant Justin Noyes, an American Hero, who fought and died while serving our country in Fallujah, Iraq. Named for a remarkable young man who was fiercely dedicated to the service of our Nation, the scholarships recognize students whose accomplishments; associated with scholastic abilities, leadership and love of country; are honored by SAME and mirror the achievements of Sergeant Noyes.

Students from high schools in the Tulsa area who meet the eligibility requirements described below will be considered for the scholarship awards. Students from high schools outside the Tulsa area, including high schools in other states, are eligible if they are nominated by a Tulsa Post SAME member. 

• Applicants must enroll in a curriculum that will lead to an accredited engineering, physical science, or biological science degree. The SAME scholarship awards are contingent upon the winners being accepted for admission at Langston University, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Northeastern State University, Oklahoma Baptist University, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma University, Oral Roberts University, Tulsa Community College, or Tulsa University. Other universities outside the State of Oklahoma are acceptable if the student is nominated by a Tulsa Post SAME member. 
• Applicants must have a maximum ACT composite score of 30 (ACT score 30 or less). 
• Students who accept Nation Merit or Oklahoma Regents Scholarships are ineligible to receive SAME scholarships. 
• Applicants must be United States Citizens. 

Tulsa Post of SAME also has a renewable scholarship. One of the scholarships awarded will be a renewable 4-year scholarship and will be at the $9,500 level ($2,000 the first year, then $2500 per year for three years) to the top graduating high school senior applicant. The recipient must meet two requirements to continue to receive their renewable scholarship beyond the initial year: 

• Maintain a GPA of at least a 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) their Freshman year and a 3.0 thereafter. 
• Maintain full time student status (12 hours per semester) progressing towards a four-year degree in engineering or the physical sciences. 

The Tulsa Post of the SAME wants to award these scholarships to students who have the desire and ability to become excellent engineers, physical scientists, or biological scientists. Our eligibility requirements; therefore, do not limit the scholarship opportunity to those students with the best grades or the highest ACT scores. We are depending on guidance counselors, teachers, JROTC leaders, and Tulsa Post SAME members to identify students who are most deserving and might not otherwise qualify for scholarships based primarily on academic achievement. 

These scholarships are not limited to students interested in military careers. All applicants in Engineering, Biological Science, or Physical Science programs that meet the above eligibility requirements will be considered.

2024 J.D. Metcalfe College Scholarship Award:

The Tulsa Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is pleased to announce the award of six $2,500 scholarships to Junior or Senior students in Engineering, Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences programs.

Our annual scholarships are named in honor of Mr. J.D. Metcalfe who was instrumental in accomplishing unprecedented and nationally recognized flood risk reduction initiatives in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was a loyal and respected member of the SAME. During his career as Tulsa Street Commissioner, Mr. Metcalfe’s vision and leadership improved the quality of life of countless Tulsans. These scholarships will recognize students whose accomplishments; associated with scholastic abilities, leadership and love of country; are honored by SAME and mirror the achievements of Mr. Metcalfe.

These scholarships are not limited to students interested in military careers. All applicants in Engineering, Biological Science, or Physical Science programs that meet the eligibility requirements will be considered.
