Looking Forward presented by Jacobs

In a continually changing world, today’s military is under more pressure than ever to operate efficiently and cost-effectively. Leadership also must balance the need to keep an eye on the future as it relates to cyber threats, energy security, and sustainability.

In a 2022 study, the U.S. Government Accountability Office reported that the Department of Defense, which owns more than $1.3 trillion in buildings and other facilities worldwide, also faces a deferred maintenance backlog over $137 billion.¹ With this extensive asset portfolio dealing with differing levels of risk to operations, the challenge is how to prioritize business-as-usual maintenance while maintaining mission readiness.

Jacobs, through our work on more than 440 active, guard, and reserve military installations worldwide, knows how to balance today’s maintenance operation needs with tomorrow’s technologies. From planning and programing to artificial intelligence and data solutions, technical communications, and critical thinking, we customize solutions for facility and infrastructure resilience.

Full Lifecycle of Services

Whether starting your journey or looking for a unique solution, our approach is centered on your needs—analyzing your organization for operating constraints and applying it against industry best practices. We use our expertise in condition assessments, data analysis, and digital solutions to deliver cohesive and comprehensive strategies.

Aligned with the International Organization for Standardization 55000 Series Guide and with intelligence garnered from facility condition assessments using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ web-based software application, BUILDER Sustainment Management System, we reduce cost, lessen risk, and optimize performance to make facilities and infrastructure resilient for the future.

Mission First Management

Through our integrated services and experience working across end markets in critical infrastructure, energy, environment, and global security, we understand an asset’s performance, risk, and expenditures. Our team of strategic advisors, professional engineers, data scientists, quality managers, and asset management specialists work collaboratively with clients to go beyond quantifying inventory and deferred maintenance needs—conducting time-sensitive and large-scale data reviews and assessments.

For example, working alongside a Department of Homeland Security client, we advised and consulted with senior leaders to establish a comprehensive decision framework integrating procurement, construction, and improvement; major acquisition of shore infrastructure; depot-level maintenance; and organizational-level maintenance funding with service requirements. This framework provided a comprehensive asset management strategy (including developing and implementing supporting policy, doctrine, configuration standards, process guides, IT architectures, job guides, and training materials) that allowed the client to allocate critical resources more effectively for the mission.

Aligned with our clients as trusted partners, we also see the big picture—identifying and analyzing challenges, risks, and strategies associated with delivering large-scale infrastructure projects and programs globally. We provide master planning and risk mitigation strategies uniquely tailored to your needs now and in the future.

Delivering Strategies for the Future

With our partners, PA Consulting, Simetrica-Jacobs, and Palantir, we provide world-class asset management services, leading to an efficient, optimized, and mission-assured future. We can create a holistic and long-lasting strategy for any challenge using consulting, social value measurement and the latest data solutions. Like through our work with Palantir, we are developing cutting-edge defense decision support systems that are reshaping how military industrial complexes use data to communicate critical facility and infrastructure mission readiness to drive essential investment decisions.

As our military faces the future, Jacobs is ready for the mission—accepting the challenge to create a better tomorrow for us all.
