How Resilience Reduces Risk-to-Mission!

presented by Michael Bilney, MBA (Stantec)

Resilience is all about the Mission! The presentation addresses current Resilience trends and themes with recent examples of, and lessons learned from, mission-disruptive events. Videos and graphics support a case study of an on-going military risk and resilience project. Examples demonstrate how aligning resilience analysis and improvement efforts with current policies and directives can address and reduce mission risk and support mission-critical assets, objectives, and engineering efforts.

Key aspects of resilience that identify and reduce risk-to-mission are identified, including analysis and measurement of exposure, sensitivity, adaptive capacity, and vulnerability. A summary of new resilience standards and guidelines is provided along with essential definitions and key elements of resilience. The presentation gives a better understanding of how to communicate, analyze, develop, implement, and measure resilience actions along with the “why” and “how” of successful mission resilience improvement projects.
