In celebration of Black History Month, SAME will be spotlighting the contributions and achievements of African-Americans in the military engineering and A/E/C industry throughout the month. To kick off the celebrations, SAME National President Cindy Lincicome, F.SAME, hosted a fireside chat with Brig. Gen. Antoinette Gant, USA, Commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Division, the first African American female, active-duty engineer to be promoted to the rank of general officer.
The two discussed the course of Brig. Gen. Gant’s remarkable career, her inspirations and notable mentors who helped her along the way, and what giving back to the future generation of engineers means to her. Watch the full chat below, and follow SAME on social media for more inspirational stories from our members all throughout Black History Month with the hashtags #BlackHistoryMonth and #SAMECelebrates.
