Please join the Society of American Military Engineers Denver Metro Post as we host the Colorado National Guard to discuss the transformation of their combustible vehicle fleet to zero emission vehicles.
Presentation Title: COARNG Zero-Emission Vehicle / Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities Modernization Case Study
The Colorado Army National Guard (COARNG) began transforming Fleet vehicles from internal-combustion engine to Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEV) starting in 2019. Through a robust cross-functional Vehicle Management Team (VMT) developing a five-year plan the COARNG has modernized 20% of its Fleet and developed a supporting infrastructure with 44 available Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities (EVCF) at 10 facilities across the state. The COARNG accessed both State, Federal and special grant funding to achieve successful implementation. Additionally, Colorado Department of Military and Veteran’s Affairs established a sustainable funding stream to off-set operations cost by working with the State legislature to create third-party “retail collection” features and apply them to electric utility payments reducing facilities’ electric costs. The COARNG is recognized nationally by the Department of the Army for their commitment in Environmental Quality.
