About the Event

Wallace Smith with #garverengineers will be our speaker for the #samearkansaspost meeting April, 10 at Whole Hog on Cantrell. The meeting will start at noon, come early to order your food.

Mr. Smith is a former Army veteran of the Persian Gulf War (1990-91). Upon returning from overseas in 1991, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Louisiana Tech University. Early in his career he began to manage large projects that required multi-discipline design experts to complete. In time, that naturally led to serving as the Program Manager for a large business on multiple Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contracts for various Department of Defense agencies. His project experience is in programming, facility planning, master planning, design, and construction administration.

Over the years serving as a Program Manager, Mr. Smith has executed hundreds of Task Orders by successfully managing internal project teams as well as teams comprised of external subcontractors that are primarily Small Business (SB), Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), 8A, Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZONE), Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB), and Economically Disadvantage Woman Owned Small Business (EDWOSB). Mr. Smith brings his design teams to bear on Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects per the client’s preference. He has managed and successfully executed projects in 47 of the 50 states, all the American Territories, and several other countries.

Mr. Smith is currently a Vice President and Director of Federal Services at Garver, one of the top 100 largest engineering firms in the United States. He has been a member of the Society of American Military Engineers for many years and is a past-President of the Arkansas Post.
