Professional and Ethical Conduct for Licensed Engineers in Oklahoma

The State of Oklahoma began regulating the practice of engineering with the creation of this Board in 1935. The mission was to create and enforce rules that would safeguard life, health and property, and to promote the public welfare as they relate to the practice of engineering. This presentation will briefly describe the operation and function of the Board, heavily focusing on the Board Rules of Professional Conduct.

Presenter: Bruce A. Pitts, P.L.S., Principal Assistant – State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers And Land Surveyors

Presenter Bio: Bruce A. Pitts, P.L.S. is a licensed land surveyor and served for 15 years as Director of Enforcement for the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Prior to his present engagement with the State Board, Mr. Pitts practiced land surveying for in Oklahoma City for 30 years, most recently with Smith Roberts Baldischwiler. He received his B.S. degree in Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University and is an emeritus member of the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) where he has served on the Engineering Mobility Task Force. Surveying Exam Committee and chaired the Law Enforcement Committee.
