Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore, Md., has served the Coast Guard for more than a century in building, repairing, and renovating ships. Today, it is the service’s sole shipyard and an essential part of the core industrial fleet support operations. To address modern demands, a complex heavy construction project was carried out to expand the dry-dock platform and increase shipyard capacity by 30 percent, but delivering this project required overcoming numerous unforeseen site conditions and close coordination with shipyard operations.
