Recapping the 2024 Post Leaders Workshop

A Wrap up of the 2024 Post Leaders Workshop

The city of Scottsdale, Arizona hosted the annual Post Leaders Workshop from August 4-6. SAME hosts the annual event where post leaders from around the country and around the world can get together for a unique opportunity to learn new best practices, hone their outreach skills, and have the opportunity to finally meet their colleagues in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

It was a great turnout! In total, 142 attendees from 70 Posts joined the workshop, representing all 18 regions around the world. Post representatives were introduced to the history, governance, and staff structure of SAME. Each educational session highlighted an aspect of SAME’s mission of strengthening and insuring America’s national security. An important element of that concept included providing an update on SAME’s 2030 Strategic Plan and why each Post is critical to these objectives.

After a meet and greet and an icebreaker reception, the attendees broke for dinner and to get ready for the were ready for the first full day of activities and sessions. After breakfast on Monday morning, welcome and introductions were made with the theme of “Share the Value” carrying through the day. The theme was intertwined with the goal of driving value for members through industry government engagement, training and education, and leader development. Other sessions focused on marketing, event planning, and ready resources available to the Posts to help grow their member base.

After a full day of sessions on Monday, participants had a lighter agenda on Tuesday. Sessions included Post Best Practice Sharing parts 1 and 2 which focused on delivering solutions, driving partnerships, and discussed the importance of succession planning, and methods to develop, recruit and retain people.

Each day of the conference presented fresh opportunities for members to connect with their fellow Post colleagues, engage in discussions about challenges and possibilities, and exchange valuable insights and perspectives. We offer a big thanks to the dedicated Posts around the world, and a special acknowledgment to the Post representatives who generously contribute their time and expertise daily in support of our shared mission.

We can’t wait to see you next year!
