SAME Air Force Academy Camp – Colorado Springs, CO
Craig Liegibel, Commissioning Agent at FFE Inc., was a Camp Counselor at the SAME Air Force Academy Camp for one week in Colorado Springs, Colorado. SAME offers several week-long, live-in STEM camps with full immersion in engineering and STEM activites. Campers work as teams to complete engineering tasks in a competitive environment. They are supervised, mentored, coached, led, and guided 24/7 by STEM professionals and college students in a STEM major.
SAME USMC STEM Camp – Camp Lejeune, NC
Nick Hradisky, 1st Lieutenant and Architectural Designer at FFE Inc., spent one week aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina at the SAME US Marine Corps STEM camp as a Camp Counselor. He served as a mentor to high school students interested in the construction industry and/or military careers. The students worked with Marine Corps Combat Engineers to build concrete beams, race cardboard amphibious vehicles, and design water reservoirs, among other challenges. Additional festivities included a Hawaiian Luau on the beach, a volleyball tournament, and a trip to the rifle simulator.
