Philadelphia Post Scholarship

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level 1 is awarded to Army Cadet Eric Palacios, an Engineering and Physical Sciences major at Valley Forge Military College. As a member of the Early Commissioning Program, Cadet Palacios is simultaneously a member of the Army ROTC Continental Line Battalion at VFMC and the 990th Engineering Company, US Army Reserves, at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He graduated basic camp with honors in 2019, and has continually demonstrated excellence and leadership in his time at VFMC. Rising to the rank of Cadet Captain, Palacios commands F Company of the Corps of Cadets, and has led his command to successfully complete both their daily tasks and corps challenges. Cadet Palacios has been placed on the Merit List in all three semesters at the college and is one of the top students in his program, earning admission to the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. He is a successful amateur boxer, placing as a finalist in the SoCal Championships Tournament; and he placed number one in the JROTC Physical Training Championship in his region. Cadet Palacios plans to attend Syracuse University upon his graduation from VFMC.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level 1 is awarded to Army Cadet Dalton W. Butz, who is a member of the Lehigh Army ROTC majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University. Cadet Butz has unmatched energy and enthusiasm as a leader in his battalion. He has consistently displayed a willingness to be the first to volunteer for challenging assignments and leadership roles. Cadet Butz wants the best for his team and himself as he prepares to be a leader in the Army. He is an active member of the Student Veteran Association and the Black Student Union, and the team captain for the tournament baseball team. Cadet Butz’s leadership potential, stellar character, and keen intellect make him an all-around great member of any team of which he is a part.

The Society of American Military Engineers Philadelphia Post Scholarship, Level 1, is awarded to Cadet Robert Saldutti, who is a member of the Widener University Army ROTC “Dauntless Battalion” and is majoring in Civil Engineering at Villanova University. He has a resilient and positive attitude that enables him to communicate clearly and lead by example. His dedication to ROTC has resulted in an outstanding overall performance and recognition as the program’s Cadet of the Year. Additionally, Cadet Saldutti has completed two engineering internships while at Villanova and volunteers with the Travis Manion Foundation during the semester. He is also a member of the Villanova Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the president of the Military Science Club.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level 2 is awarded to Army Cadet Ryan J. Luttrell, who is a member of the Lehigh University Army ROTC STEEL Battalion and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Lehigh University. Cadet Luttrell has established himself with the battalion with his leadership presence and attention to detail, rising to the top of the senior Cadets this past year. A top performer at Operation Agile Leader, Cadet Luttrell was selected as the Battalion XO this past semester, and will serve as Tactics OIC in the spring. He is a consummate professional who gets results and empowers his teammates around him. He is also an integral team member and designer for Lehigh’s Formula #1 Racing Team. Cadet Luttrell is extremely active in ROTC extracurriculars and in the Lehigh Engineering Department.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level 2 is awarded to Army Cadet Aidan Fillion who is a member of the Drexel University Army ROTC majoring in Mechanical Engineering. CDT Fillion is a stellar cadet in his junior year and is clearly in the top 10% in his class. Academically gifted, he has maintained a 4.0 ROTC GPA. As a leader, he continuously demonstrates outstanding qualities and is frequently chosen by his peers and subordinates as a role model. He excels in physical training and leadership roles both in garrison and field environments, Cadet Fillion leads by example and more importantly takes the time to mentor his subordinates. CDT Fillion’s desire to lead began at an early age. Since first grade, Aiden participated in Boy Scouts until he earned the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 17, which allowed him to attend multiple leadership seminars including National Youth Leadership Training. Since his enrollment in the Drexel ROTC program, Aiden has demonstrated the ability to lead and build teams. He constantly engages cadre members and displays a strong desire to learn.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level 2 is awarded to Army Cadet Bryan Gillespie, who is a member of the Dickinson College Army ROTC Blue Mountain Battalion and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University. Cadet Gillespie is a great cadet and excellent team player who has shown great determination. Cadet Gillespie worked hard to increase his physical fitness in order to earn an ROTC contract by losing over fifty pounds and becoming a top athletic performer. He also served as a squad leader. He is a natural leader and is blessed with great integrity.

The M. Paul Brott Scholarship is awarded to Midshipman Zachary Quinn, who is a member of the NROTC at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Bioengineering at Temple University. Midshipman Quinn has demonstrated leadership, maturity, and a strong work ethic as a member of the NROTC Battalion and the Color Guard Commander. As a motivated and talented leader, Midshipman Quinn was hand selected to be the Spring 2021 Battalion Executive Officer, a position traditionally held by first class midshipmen. His enthusiasm and fervor in executing all of his assigned billets and overall outstanding performance is the model example for incoming midshipmen to emulate. His willingness to lead his peers, particularly in these challenging times, speaks to his strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and determination. Outside of the unit, Midshipman Quinn volunteers several times each month with the Temple University Community Service Association. His consistent display of excellence and motivation to improve the NROTC Battalion speaks highly to his diligence and his future success as an officer.

The Dr. August D. Pistilli Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Dorothy Polk who is a member of the Widener University “Dauntless Battalion’ and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Villanova University. Cadet Polk is a Junior and a natural born leader who exhibits her leadership qualities daily. These qualities include the ability to lead by example, possess strong interpersonal tact, and creates a positive environment in the program. Cadet Polk has shown her ability to lead by example through pushing herself to improve her physical fitness level tremendously in the past two years to where now she is setting the example to most of her peers. She is a Cadet who works extremely well with others, has the ability to display self-control, and operates effectively in a group regardless of who is on her team. CDT Polk has also been involved in many extracurricular activities to include a variety of sports, community events, and learning multiple languages. Lastly, CDT Polk is an individual who instills a positive teamwork environment within her Squad and platoon. All of her peers appreciate her ability to bring the group together and achieve their goals optimally.

The Louis P. Morris, Sr. Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Christopher Lance Chavers, a member of the Continental Line Battalion at Valley Forge Military College, where he is majoring in Engineering and Physical Sciences. Cadet Chavers is the ROTC Battalion Cadet Commander with the rank of Captain in the Corps of Cadets. As a member of the Early Commissioning Program he is also simultaneously serving in Bravo Company of the 876th Brigade Engineering Battalion of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Cadet Chavers is heavily involved in the life of VFMC, serving as a member of the Cadet Honor Council, which oversees the administration of the honor code on all college and academy cadets. He has been an integral part of building the Battalion’s Ranger Challenge team, which competes with other ROTC units in physical activities. He is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and has been on the Merit List for three consecutive semesters. Cadet Chavers is a successful athlete, having lettered in three sports in high school, while also pursuing Jujitsu. His football team won two state championships and he competed in the shot put and discuss state championships. Cadet Chavers has brought a drive for excellence to his leadership role at VFMC and has coordinated his unit through several activities and training exercises. He intends to study aeronautical engineering after graduation from VFMC.

The Society of American Military Engineers Philadelphia Post Scholarship is awarded to Cadet Andrew Gallen, who is a member of the Temple University Army ROTC and is majoring in Engineering Technology. He works well with his peers, is effective in building teamwork, and willingly takes charge. His leadership and vision have positively influenced all Temple ROTC cadets. He demonstrates a talent for anticipating contingency requirements and produces effective results both in the classroom and in the ROTC program. He is a hard worker who puts forth 100% effort into all his endeavors. Outside the classroom Cadet Gallen works for a private construction group while pursuing a goal of becoming a licensed carpenter.

The M. Paul Brott Scholarship is awarded to Air Force Cadet Sydney D. Taggart, who is a member of AFROTC at Saint Joseph’s University majoring in Biology. Cadet Taggart has proven herself to be incredibly hard-working, determined, and successful. She has efficiently balanced Air Force ROTC requirements as Mission Support Group Commander while also maintaining a perfect ROTC GPA this semester on top of multiple community activities. Cadet Taggart has served as director of support, finance officer, and chief of protocol in Arnold Air Society assisting in the execution of training operations. Served
as Honor Guard commander, assistant director of training, operations group commander, and director of support of training operations. Has served as Public Affairs Officer, Mission Support Group Commander, and Freshmen Flight Commander. Cadet Taggart has also been a Teaching Assistant; participated in undergraduate research; selected for Sigma Zeta (STEM honor society), Alpha Epsilon Delta (Pre-medical honor society) and Sigma Xi (Research honor society); and received Dean’s List honors every semester. CDT Taggart has excelled in all aspects of AFROTC, academics and community.

The Dr. Augustus D. Pistilli Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Cardon Furry who is a member of the Widener University “Dauntless Battalion’ and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Villanova University. Cadet Furry motivates and inspires her fellow classmates; she stands out as an energetic leader with all requisite skills. She achieves superior academic grades and physical fitness scores. Cadet Furry is a Member of the Special Olympics Committee at Villanova University where as Committee Member and Local Program host, she has planned and executed four Olympics, the largest student program in the world. She is a member of Blue Key Society and Society of Women Engineers and plays multiple intramural sports. Her motivation and her drive for perfection results in superior academic grades and she is prepared and eager to become an engineering officer. CDT Furry is a dedicated student of Hindi and Swahili languages and cultures included time in host nation. CDT Furry has stepped out as a natural leader, a top cadet and a future great officer.

The Louis P. Morris, Sr. Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Mark Mumford who is a member of the Widener University “Dauntless Battalion’ and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Villanova University. Cadet Mumford has set himself apart from his peers as an ROTC Cadet, a student, and in his community involvement. He is very active in ROTC and veterans programs. Was recently the Company Commander within the Cadet Battalion instrumental in leading, planning and executing physical training, leadership labs, and daily administrative tasks. He was selected to be the Battalion Operations Officer. Excels in the highly demanding major of Chemical Engineering. Active in the Omega Chi Epsilon (National Chemical Engineering Honor Society), Villanova Environmental Group, the Villanova Rugby Club, intramural flag football and is a recipient of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry ROTC. Has participated in The American Institute of Chemical Engineers workshops; work groups and focus areas discussions of Chemical Engineer departments of collective universities; ChemE Sports Competition against other universities; and a US Army internship with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Pittsburgh, PA. Cadet Mumford is ranked in the top 10% of cadets within the nation; will be a Distinguished Military Graduate upon graduation; and has been selected to branch within the Corps of Engineers in April when he commissions. Cadet Mumford is dedicated and extremely talented with outstanding potential as a future leader in the US Army.

Cadet Lehman epitomizes the leadership and character qualities of an Army Officer. He is always striving for excellence leading by example. Cadet Lehman has been a member of the Task Force Dragon Color Guard, Ranger Challenge Team assisting on multiple committees to include Alumni Hall of Fame Ceremony. He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers, Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity, Club Swimming, and Club Water Polo. Cadet Lehman is one of the most dedicated cadets in the program and is a quiet professional selflessly ensuring fellow cadet development. As a Chemical Engineering student, he has balanced the rigorous program and the requirements within his undergraduate curriculum.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Samuel Lee who is a member of the Temple University Army ROTC majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Cadet Lee is a dedicated decision-maker and mentor to younger Cadets. Beyond ROTC, Cadet Lee has interned in the private sector and Temple University including as a Teaching Assistant for Engineering Courses; and has volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher and Vocation Career Prep School. He is a quality young leader who balances academics and ROTC. He is an intelligent, honest, self-motivated, leader and positive role model. Cadet Lee possesses the character, competence and commitment of our finest Army leaders.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Jeffrey Kordenbrock who is a member of the Lehigh University Army ROTC “STEEL Battalion” and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Lafayette College. Cadet Kordenbrock is the top MSIII cadet at Lehigh University’s STEEL Battalion. His performance is without flaw and the most well-rounded Scholar, Athlete, and Leader. He delivers the very best as a NCAA D1 Athlete for Lafayette College’s Football team, a Mechanical engineering student and cadet. He is smart, capable, and always getting results. Cadet Kordenbrock is on track to be an Academic All American as a standout Patriot League Academic Athletic All-Star; has successfully completed Air Assault school; and will make our prestigious
Sandhurst Team as the #1 School in 2nd BDE, US Army Cadet Command. Charismatic and insightful, his strength lies in fierce determination setting out to conquer his goals every day. Cadet Kordenbrock will make an outstanding officer and one day meeting his goal of being a U.S. Army Astronaut.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Brian “Jake” Matus who is a member of the Lehigh University Army ROTC “STEEL Battalion” and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Lafayette College. Cadet Matus is an exceptional cadet. He is extremely charismatic, outgoing, with a warm heart, but firm hand! He is the BN Command Sergeant Major for a growing Battalion of over 100 Cadets. Was the former Captain of the Award Winning Ranger Challenge Team. Then as peer mentor and Assistant Coach. CDT Matus led Lehigh’s Ranger Challenge Team to their first Sandhurst Competition berth at West Point. Over four years, he has been key to his team going from 23rd Place to 1st Place. Was also instrumental in organizing teams to attend the Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands, NM. He is a peer mentor, extremely personable, community oriented, thoughtful, articulate, and prepared to tackle the toughest challenges. Cadet Matus has been named a Steel Battalion Distinguished Military Student. Having received his #1 component and branch of choice, Aviation in the PAARNG. Cadet Matus will serve as a Uh-60 pilot at Fort Indiantown Gap.

2019 Scholarship Nominees Biographies

The M. Paul Brott Scholarship is awarded to Navy Midshipman Second Class Stephen D. Grier, USMCR, who is a member of the Navy ROTC at Villanova University and studying Mechanical Engineering. Midshipman Grieris a leader among his peers who consistently exhibits superior leadership abilities commensurate with the traditions of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. Midshipman Grier finds time to mentor peers and junior midshipmen in the battalion. In addition, his dedication to service consists of volunteering with the Special Olympics as well as participation in intramural football. MIDN Grier also volunteers with the Whiskey Company drill team as well as working with the Travis Manion Foundation. He has worked tirelessly to prepare from Navy to Marine Corps option.

The Dr. Augustus D. Pistilli Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Harvey Situ who is a member of the Lehigh University Army ROTC “Steel Battalion” and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Lafayette College. Cadet Situ isa standout NCAA Division I Track and Field Athlete in addition to his rigorous academic workload as a Mechanical Engineering major. He was selected to attend the Jungle Warfare School where he graduated with distinction. CDT Situ was selected for the Culture and Language Immersion Program (CULP) mission to Nepal. His mission commander described him as a natural leader and contributor to the overall success of the mission. CDT Situ has been recognized as a Distinguished Military Graduate within the nation as a future Active Duty Infantry Officer. At the ROTC National Advanced Camp, he ranked in the top 5% of his platoon achieving the highest marks for military tactical acumen and leadership.

The Louis P. Morris, Sr. Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Anthony Hazboun , who is a member of Dickinson College Army ROTC and an exceptional student of Mechanical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University-Harrisburg. Cadet Hazboun has distinguished himself academically in his classwork at Penn State University-Harrisburg. He is an exemplary leader and team player. As a member of the Program’s Range Challenge Team,CDT Hazboun has displayed coaching, mentoring, and team building traits which have been instrumental to the success of the team. He was part of the Capitol College Racing’s FSAE and went to a competition in Michigan to compete against other schools across the nation in the design of a Formula car. As part of his Capstone Project Analysis he has designed a Muzzle Blast Forwarding Device. The design can potentially be marketed to the United States Military to be placed on the end of the AR-15 series sets of barrels.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award is awarded to Air Force Cadet Sidney Taggart, who is a member of the Air Force ROTC Detachment 750 at St. Joseph’s University and is studying Biology. Cadet Taggart is an outstanding academic, military student leader who has served as director of support and chief of protocol in Arnold Air Society assisting in the execution of training operations. As the Wing Public Affair Officer (PA))this semester, Cadet Taggart contributed to cadet morale by highlighting the success of Det 750 cadets. She volunteers to train cadets on various types of ROTC curriculum. She has been on the Saint Joseph University’s Deans List since her first semester. She has also received the cadet Warrior Spirit award and the Arnold Air Society Distinguished Graduate award.

He is on the Villanova University Dean’s list and has received the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry ROTC award.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level I is awarded to Army Cadet Jeremy Walsh, who is a member of the Dickinson College Army ROTC and is studying Mathematics. Cadet Walsh has excellent qualities as a leader, as a scholar and as an athlete. His actions, attitude and compassion for others differentiates him from his peers. He has been selected to serve on an ROTC Cultural Understanding and Leadership Program trip to Nepal and attend the US Army Airborne School. He has distinguished himself academically at Dickinson College.Cadet Walsh has earned placement on the Dean’s list. He is on the Dickinson Football team. His skills include strong technical proficiency, outstanding character and exceptional leadership capabilities.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level I is awarded to Navy Midshipman Second Class Lucas Baltisberger, USNR who is a member of the Navy ROTC at the University of Pennsylvania and is studying Electrical Engineering at Drexel University. MIDN Baltisberger is a hardworking and driven student with aspirations to become a Submarine Officer. As a motivating and talented leader, he was selected as a Kilo Company squad leader. He displays maturity, work ethic, and endurance through his efforts and billets in the NROTC battalion. He is Calculus tutor at Drexel University.The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level I is awarded to Army Cadet Ryan Paradise, who is a member of the Lehigh University “Steel Battalion” and is studying Mechanical Engineering. CDT Paradise is a top cadet in the entire ROTC program. As a Division I Cross Country and Track & Field star, he embodies all the attributes of scholar, athlete and leader. Cadet Paradise has the presence necessary as a cadet-leader for selection as the Cadet Battalion Commander next year.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level I is awarded to Navy Midshipman Second Class Katherine Min, USNR, who is a member of the Navy ROTC at Villanova University studying Electrical Engineering. MIDN Min is a dynamic and inspirational leader with limitless determination and potential. MIDN Min is a superior academic performer and a leader in physical fitness including Iron Man and Marathon competition. These will serve her well in pursuing a commission as a Nuclear Officer in Submarine Warfare.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Huy Alex D Le who is a member of the Army ROTC at Drexel University and is studying Chemical Engineering. Cadet Le is a natural leader and mentor who builds and motivates teams in achieving their missions simultaneously serving with the 105 Cadet Battalion and the 103rd Brigade Engineer Battalion. His devotion to excellence and drive to succeed will be a valuable asset to the Army while growing into an exceptional leader.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Patrick Wescott, who is a member of the Red Diamond Battalion and studying Civil Engineering at Temple University. Cadet Wescott is a take charge, determined, energetic and confident leader. He possesses a dynamic ability to accurately anticipate contingency requirements producing effective plans for successful missions. His maximum effort; quick,common-sense decisions; ability under stressful situation; demonstrated leadership and vision have made an impact on the Temple’s ROTC Program.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Brandon Smith who is a member of the Drexel University Army ROTC and is studying Mechanical Engineering. He is a US Army Reserve Minuteman Scholarship Cadet and simultaneously a member of the 304th Civil Affairs Brigade. Cadet Smith excels as an athletic, academic and military student, while team captain of the Varsity Baseball Team. He is a role model who leads by example improving his fellow cadets’ tactical skills and physical fitness.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Alston H Stanford who is a member of the Drexel University Army ROTC and is studying Computer Engineering. Cadet Stanford is a recipient of the Chuck Sabin Award and attended Cyber Internship with the Army Cyber Institute at West Point. He is a teaching assistant plus works 20-plus hours /week part-time job. As a most dedicated extraordinary cadet, he epitomizes leadership and the character qualities of a model citizen and Army officer.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Air Force Cadet Lucas Peterson, who is a member of the Air Force ROTC Detachment 750 at St. Joseph’s University and is studying Physics at Drexel University. Cadet Peterson shows mature levels of professionalism and leadership and expert level of skills well beyond the traditional curriculum. Excellent leader respected by his peers expanding their knowledge by always offering insightful comments. Continuous pursuit of knowledge and excellence for himself and his peers.

The M. Paul Brott Scholarship is awarded to Navy Midshipman Second Class James E. Treacy, USNR, who is a member of the Navy ROTC at University of Pennsylvania with aspirations of becoming a Submarine Officer.  MIDN Treacy has the highest GPA among his peers in both Chemical and Bimolecular Engineering and in Naval Science.  MIDN Treacy is a motivating and talented leader displaying maturity, solid work ethic, endurance and calmness under pressure.  He is an active member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Penn Aerospace Club and Rocketry Team and Penn Newman Center.  He volunteers with Veterans Upward Bound at Penn and St. John’s Hospice in Philadelphia.  MIDN Treacy is a student model of leadership, excellence and service to his community.

Rivera who is a member of Dickenson College Army ROTC and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University-Harrisburg.  He is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) designing, analyzing, building and testing rocketry. He is also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) working on Formula One racing cars.  CDT Rivera has excelled in physical fitness which led to him being the fitness instructor for the Blue Mountain Battalion.  In addition, he has tutored subjects in mathematics and science at the Penn State Schuylkill Tutoring Center.  Cadet Rivera distinguishes himself with a blend of strong computational proficiency, outstanding character, physical fitness, relentless drive/determination and exceptional leadership that builds and leads teams to win.

The Louis P. Morris, Sr. Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Sebastian S. Shenk who is a member of Dickenson College Army ROTC and an exceptional student of Mechanical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University-Harrisburg.  Among his many accomplishments, Cadet Shenk anchors the Ranger Challenge Team, earned the USAA Warrior Spirit Award and selected for the ROTC Cultural Language and Proficiency Program (CULP), which he attended in Bulgaria. He is a member of the FSAE club building/competing stock cars annually at the Nationals in Michigan. Cadet Shenk is intelligent, technically proficient, resourceful, highly communicative and of outstanding quality.  His accomplishments speak volumes of character, leadership and drive.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level I is awarded to Navy Midshipman Second Class Kathryn A. Salva, USNR, who is a member of the Navy ROTC at Villanova University studying Chemical Engineering.  MIDN Salva is an outstanding academic, military student leader and athlete while also participating in University and City of Philadelphia community service. She completed a Naval Service Training Command study abroad program in Rome and performed in an outstanding manner and was known as a cultural ambassador. MIDN Salva’s tenacity, professional curiosity and drive will serve her well in pursuing a commission as a Submarine Warfare Officer. 

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level I is awarded to Air Force Cadet John Godfrey, who is a member of the Air Force ROTC Detachment 750 at St. Joseph’s University and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Drexel University.  Cadet Godfrey is one of the most outstanding performers of his junior class, as well as the entire detachment.  He graduated Leadership Evaluation Development Training as a Superior Performer.  He served as Vice Wing Commander and Arnold Air Society (AAS) Director of Training for AFROTC Detachment 750 serving the Philadelphia Area.  Cadet Godfrey is a dedicated and true Wingman and Leader.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Cameron Wasser, who is a member of the Army ROTC at Temple University and is studying Information Science and Technology.  Cadet Wasser consistently ranks highly and is sought out by fellow cadets for his ROTC knowledge and leadership as well as his academics.  He graduated from the rigorous US Army Air Assault School, performed a Cultural understanding and Language Proficiency Internship in Malawi, and served as Operations Sergeant Major, the senior most position for juniors.  Cadet Wasser is a natural leader who has excelled in every challenge he has performed.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Devin J. Mashack, who is a member of the Drexel University Army ROTC and is studying Civil Engineering.  Cadet Mashack ranks in the top 1% of Cadets in the ROTC program.  He is a natural leader that builds teams and motivates others to accomplish any mission or task.  Therefore, he is sought after by all his fellow Cadets for input and advice on how to coordinate complex tasks which enable mission success.  He is a recipient of the Gold German Armed Proficiency Badge.  He is also a member of the Task Force Dragon Color Guard, Ranger Challenge Team, Recruiting Team and Military Ball Committee.  Cadet Mashack is the most dedicated cadet in the program who selflessly provides 100% effort to ensuring cadet development.   

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Thomas P. Macri, who is a member of the Lehigh University Army ROTC and is studying Chemical Engineering.  Cadet Macri excels as an academic and military student while also participating in multiple school clubs and organizations such as the student government club.  He accomplishes missions through critical and creative thinking with a unique pace setting and democratic leadership style. He is a dedicated and hard-working cadet who sets the example to others as well as helps his team mates with a helping hand when needed. Cadet Marci begins active duty as an Engineer Officer this Spring and has a bright future as both an Army Officer, and as an engineer.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Maalik F. Kaptue, who is a member of the Drexel University Army ROTC and is studying Architectural and Civil Engineering.  Cadet Kaptue juggles many responsibilities beyond ROTC because of being in a Field Artillery unit in the PA National Guard as well as working whenever possible to help put him through school.  He is an extraordinary Cadet that epitomizes leadership and character qualities of an Army Officer.  He is always leading by example by volunteering for ROTC events and Color Guard.  Cadet Kaptue is a very dedicated cadet in the program who selflessly provides 100% effort continually to ensuring cadet and team development.

The Dr. Augustus D. Pistilli Scholarship is awarded to Navy Midshipman Liam Fontaine, who is a member of the Navy ROTC at Villanova University and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Villanova University. Liam has shown the highest level of devotion both academically and to the Midshipman Battalion. He consistently serves at Midshipmen community service events exemplified by his membership in the prestigious Phi Sigma Pi Honors Fraternity which focuses on service, scholarship, and leadership.

The Louis P. Morris, Sr. Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Abigail Daley, who is a member of the Army ROTC “Blue Mountain Battalion” at Dickinson College, studying Biology at Millersville University. Abigail was thrice selected as a Scholar Athlete by the PA State Athletic Conference; as well as earning placement on the Dean’s list every semester since first-year. She was selected as Company Executive Officer during Advanced Camp and was one of the top 10% of Cadets in the Nation.

The M. Paul Brott Scholarship is awarded to Navy Midshipman Colin Luzzi, who is a member of the Navy ROTC at the University of Pennsylvania and is studying Systems Engineering at Penn. Colin has proven himself a capable engineer and aspiring Naval Officer through his academic, military, and extracurricular accomplishments. He was hand selected as company executive officer and is a candidate for future Battalion Command.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level I is awarded to Air Force Cadet Jesse Yoder, who is a member of the Air Force ROTC Detachment 750 at St. Joseph’s University, and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Temple University. Jesse served as detachment’s executive officer; coordinated logistics and communication for 70+ cadets; previously serving as squadron and group leadership.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level I is awarded to Army Cadet Calan Farley, who is a member of the Army ROTC “Task Force Dragon Battalion” at Drexel University, and is studying Biomedical Engineering at Drexel University. Calan is an extraordinary Cadet that epitomizes the leadership and character qualities of an Army Officer. Cadet Farley is also a founding member and Current President of the Drexel Student Post of SAME.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level I is awarded to Army Cadet Brian Reid, who is a member of the Army ROTC “Blue Mountain Battalion” at Dickinson College and studying math at Dickinson College. At Dickinson, his motivation inspires others. He twice led the program’s Army 10-mile team, and served as anchor of the Ranger Challenge team. He successfully balances academics with a double major in music, part-time work, ROTC, and serves as Captain of Dickinson’s swim team.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level I is awarded to Army Cadet Connor Fink, who is a member of the Army ROTC “Task Force Dragon Battalion” at Drexel University and is studying Biomedical Engineering at Drexel. Cadet Fink is a natural leader who builds teams; motivates others to accomplish any mission or task; and is a stellar Dean’s List student. He is also very active on campus, serving as Officer and Executive committee member of a fraternity and as an officer of the Drexel Student Post of SAME.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Kaitlin Grisanti, who is a member of the Army ROTC “Red Diamond Battalion” at Temple University, and is studying Kinesiology at Temple University. She is one of the top 4 Cadets of over 120 Cadets, and was recently selected in a competitive, nationwide process to receive a Culture Understanding and Language Proficiency Internship in Malaysia. Cadet Grisanti is also a scholar-athlete as a member of the Temple University Rowing Team.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Ryan Hunt, who is a member of the Army ROTC “Steel Battalion” at Lehigh University, and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Lehigh. He is the lead junior cadet, served as the team sergeant for the Ranger Challenge team, and is a mentor to other cadets in the battalion. Active in the community, he is the Vice President of his fraternity, Chi Psi and is also a member of the Catholic Student Union.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Won-June Choi, who is a member of the Army ROTC “Freedom Battalion” at Widener University, and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Villanova University. In addition to the A average in military science courses, he balances academics with volunteer work, spending one day a week with a local veterans’ center and services to other community projects.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship Award, Level II is awarded to Army Cadet Trina Whiteside, who is a member of the Army ROTC “Steel Battalion” at Lehigh University, and is studying Civil Engineering at Lehigh. She participated on the Ranger Challenge Team, and is a member of Engineers without Borders, Society of Women Engineers, and Global Citizenship Program.

The Dr. Augustus D. Pistilli Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Zachary Brogie, a member of the STEEL Battalion at Lehigh University. Cadet Brogie is in his junior year, studying Electrical Engineering. He has distinguished himself as a superb student and cadet leader who has a passion for parks, wildlife and local community. He has dedicated countless hours assisting others including the development of a new wildlife education program directed to elementary school children in Bethlehem.

The Louis P. Morris, Sr. Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Christopher Fritz, a member of the Blue Mountain Battalion at Dickinson College, one of the top two cadets in his Class. Cadet Fritz is in his junior year, studying Physics making Dean’s list every semester and currently 10th in his Class. He is a teaching assistant in advanced Physics, a private tutor and conducted research with a NSF Grant in 2015. He is a blend of strong technical proficiency, outstanding character and exceptional leadership.

The M. Paul Brott Scholarship is awarded to Navy Midshipman Stanley Burke, a member of the Navy ROTC at the University of Pennsylvania. MIDN Burke is in his junior year, studying Chemical Engineering at Drexel University. He is enthusiastic, diligent, and driven. Burke remains poised and calm under pressure and displays great perseverance and mental toughness as a student leader. He aspires to become a Submarine Officer and currently serves as Vice President of Drexel’s Student Chapter of SAME.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Daniel G. Garman, a member of Army ROTC at Widener University, top ranking Engineering Cadet at Widener. Cadet Garman is in his junior year, studying Civil Engineering. He was vital in the Dauntless Battalion Ranger Challenge Team taking second place in the Darby Bracket; first time the battalion has placed in seven years. His leadership, determination for excellence and outstanding character has gained the respect of his fellow students and professors.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship is awarded to Navy Midshipman Kurt A. Heidemann, a member of the Navy ROTC at the Villanova University. MIDN Heidemann is in his junior year, studying Electrical Engineering. He is a dynamic and inspirational leader with limitless determination who excels in academics, military leadership and devotion to his NROTC unit, university and community. He epitomizes the virtues of academic achievement, leadership and citizenship.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship is awarded to Navy Midshipman Christopher Hamilton, USMC, a member of the Navy ROTC at the University of Pennsylvania. MIDN Hamilton is in his 2nd/junior year, studying Mechanical Engineering at Drexel University. Consistent high academic performance with perfect scores in Naval Science Curriculum and Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test with physical and mental toughness and coolness under pressure. He earned a “blue to green” change in 2014, an achievement claimed by less than six percent of applicants.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Jacob Heybey, a member of Army ROTC at Dickinson College, top of his Class. Cadet Heybey is in his senior year, studying Computer Science making Dean’s list every semester and currently in the top 10% of his Class. He attended Air Assault training last summer finishing in the top 10% of more than 5,500 cadets nationwide. He is a Distinguished Military Graduate and has been selected to the Army’s newest Cyber Branch.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship is awarded to Air Force Cadet Azeem Merchant, a member of Air Force ROTC Detachment 750 at St Joseph’s University. Cadet Merchant is in his senior year at Drexel University, studying Environmental Engineering. He attended Project Global Officer Program for advanced Arabic language and cultural competency. He also served as Operations Group Commander, Detachments Executive Officer, Cadet Squadron Commander and Honor Guard all five years. “He leads from the front.”

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet William W. Long, a member of Army ROTC at Drexel University in his junior year, studying Mechanical Engineering. Overcoming difficulties with diligence and character, Cadet Long has met initial academic and personal challenges with exemplary academic, athletic (Division I wrestling) and military performance. “He finishes what he starts and never lets adversity get him down.” Co-op experience has affirmed his goal of becoming an aviation officer.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Dylan Dilulio, a member of the STEEL Battalion at Lehigh University. Cadet Dilulio is in his junior year, studying Environmental Engineering. He has set himself apart through hard work, dedication, resilience and perseverance even through a variety of challenges. He fosters an environment that keeps cadets engaged, challenged and encouraged to realize their fullest potential. He undoubtedly will become an outstanding Army Officer.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet Benjamin Goldblatt, a member of Army ROTC at Drexel University in his junior year, studying Mechanical Engineering and is a member of both the Pennoni Honors College and the Paul Peck Scholar Program. Cadet Goldblatt has trained with Guyanese Cadets At Camp Tacama, Guyana and Brazilian Commandos in Camp Makoria, Brazil. He has participated in Cadet Troop Leading Training (CTLT) in Ft. Carson with the 52nd Engineer Battalion. He is a cadet who always challenges himself to do better.

The Philadelphia Post Scholarship is awarded to Army Cadet John Jasionowicz, a member of Army ROTC at Temple University in his junior year, studying Civil Engineering. Cadet Jasionowicz has consistently demonstrated academic excellence and ROTC leadership. He puts forth 100% effort into many professional and community endeavors: Ranger Challenge Captain, Color Guard, Temple Diamond Leader, Student Rec Board Representative, Engineers Without Borders Project Lead, SAME, ASCE, ASHE, AUSA, Stroudsburg Wesleyen Church volunteer, and USACE Internship at Philadelphia District.
